Last month the FDA approved a vaccine against cervical cancer. Multiple sources report that the vaccine costs anywhere from $360 - $400.
According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer "Cervical cancer kills almost 4,000 U.S. women a year. That number is tragically high but the international impact is much greater, almost 300,000 annually. In both the United States and developing countries, cervical cancer disproportionately affects the poor."
Over 40 million Americans are without health care. When are we going to invest in an equitable health care system that will provide poor families with the same basic right-to-life that wealthier Americans have?
