This is Scott Ritter, a former UNSCOM weapons inspector who was the single individual who before the war stuck his neck out stated that Iraq did NOT possess WMD. He was all over national TV with this message but was dismissed as a heretic.
In this video he talks about how everything Iran has offered in regards to its attempt at gaining nuclear technology has been in line with the protocols of the non-proliferation treaty. He claims that even if Iran were trying to get nuclear weapons right now that it would be a good ten years away. I'm not so sure about that claim, because Iran keeps asserting that it is at an advanced stage of enrichment, but that's besides the point. As he argues in his video, it would be the most incredibly ridiculous thought for Iran to enter any sort of conflict today as it is in a state where it is just beginning to recover from the 8 year war it had with Iraq, trying desperately to revive its awful economy. What, you think that the leaders--no matter how dumb they are--would be willing to use a nuclear weapon when they know that both Israel and the U.S. would nuke the nation to pieces were they to do something of the sort? Of course not. Any attempts to get nuclear weapons would be intended to be held as deterrents against regime change from without. You know, the thing that happened in Iran's neighboring country Iraq.
And on that note. Even though the Iranian government still has a long way to go till it becomes a true democracy (right now ruling clerics can deem any candidate ineligible to run) it is in a state of constant reform. Just two days ago the supreme leader's biggest opponent was elected to a body that has the power to overthrow the supreme leader. This is major news. Any U.S. attack on Iran would immediately result in uniting the country against the U.S. (you won't find a single Iranian who can't tell you about how the U.S. overthrew it's democratically elected president Mossadeq in the 1950's because he was a borderline socialist).
In any case, the video is a must see. So make sure you check it out:
