As you can see, Obama has actually outperformed Clinton in the actual voting. He is behind in Super Delegates, but there is room for optimism on that front as well. Read the note below for more on that.

* Super Delegates are delegates that are awarded by party insiders and elected officials (members of Congress, state offices, etc). You don’t win these delegates through votes, but gain them by being the candidate of choice of a Super Delegate. Obama used to be behind by a margin of 2 to 1 in this category, but that’s because Clinton was billed as the inevitable nominee and no one wanted to commit to a loser. Since his win in Iowa he has outgained Clinton in Super Delegate endorsements by a large margin. I expect this trend to continue as many of those who did not immediately commit to Clinton held out in the hope that there would be a viable alternative for them to pledge their support to. To win the nomination a candidate needs 2,025 Delegates. In other words, there is a loooong way to go. Let’s be patient and keep racking up the victories. Data from RealClearPolitics.com.
