I Now Fully Believe that Obama Will Be the Democratic Nominee

After last night's crushing wins in Wisconsin and Hawaii and the ridiculously large pledged delegate lead of close to 160 delegates, I would be lying if I were to say anything other than that I'm fully convinced that Obama will be the nominee. I know it's not sound politics to play up expectations, but even with 15 point losses the rest of the way through the only way Clinton could get the nomination would be three back room dealing and super-delegates. In other words, barring a major blunder I really think that this thing is over.

So, where to go from here?

Well, two things. First, let's all promise to not ease up the pressure so as to get this thing done by March 4th. Being convinced that Obama will be the nominee is different than thinking it will happen in the next two weeks. If we can get it over in two weeks then it will spare us a lot of negative attacks from the Clintonistas (and the 10 million dollar advertising campaign that rich donors are going to do on her behalf through shady 527 groups which are not bound by campaign finance laws). I'm willing to commit to making at least 100 calls by then. That means less than ten calls a day from now until then. By brother has said he's going to do the same.

The next task is to start preparing for the general election. This is going to be the fun part folks. This is where we can make a top ten reasons list and include the major differences that exist between our candidate and McCain on even issues like Global Warming, Health Care, and Ending the War (where, the differences, though important, are far less significant between Obama and Clinton than between Obama and McCain). I'll come up with some thoughts in another post in the next couple of days on how we can start preparing early since we're all still in the activist mode. I have some thoughts, but gathering info and registering voters should be the most central parts of this part of the campaign. Let's get the dirt on McDirtBag while he's still kissing the wingnut Republican's asses during the primaries.

Anyways , I may be ringing the death knell a bit early but I don't want to be a phony and pretend something that I don't believe will happen. I just really hope that we keep it close on March 4th and the Clinton's bow out gracefully so we can all join in this fight together.

Cheers!
