The McCain campaign raised a strong $21 million in May, but add to that the $23.7 million raised by the Republican National Committee--which the McCain campaign will all but in name be in charge of--and you have an astonishing $45 million bucks! Granted Obama once before raised $50 million in one month on his own, but that was in February when we had a number of primary victories back to back and the attention on the campaign boosted figures. With the dire straits that the DNC's fundraising is in right now (in large part, I think because the extended primary had everyone giving their last penny to their candidate versus to the party) and we're looking at a competitive matchup. Now, I'm still optimistic that with the additional Clinton fundraisers we'll be able to outraise McCain, but we can't get lazy about our donations either. In other words, let's make sure that we continue to donate.
Thanks!
