This is an article by a high-schooler who explains that for her and her friends the general election will either mean voting for Obama or facing serious apathy. One of the readers of this blog (Chad!) commented about similar sentiment among his group of friends in Iowa. And RJ Eskow made a similar point in a blog piece he wrote for the Huffington Post arguing that if for nothing else, Democrats should vote for Obama for strategic reasons. He argues that not only is Obama more electable against McCain, but he is the only one who inspires a new generation of Democrats. In explaining why it makes sense to vote for Obama he asks: "Who can carry the message most effectively? Who will unite the party and draw moderate independents? Who will mobilize current and future Democrats as activists? Whose team fights clean and fair, with dignity and class?"
I've stated clearly why I think that Obama is a better candidate, but to the party faithful and to those who don't want to see McCain (a.ka. Mr. "100 more years in Iraq" and Mr. "There will be other wars") as president, these very practical concerns should not be dismissed.

ah! I'm famous =)
I called one person yesterday in North Dakota. lol. That was stepping out of my box. So now I've gone back to winning over my friends using the internet (I've got one in CA that's going out to vote because of me).
Here is a list of friends (off the top of my head) that will not vote for Hillary, but support Obama. It's sad to see proclaimed democrats state they won't vote for her. Some just find the sport of heckling fun. Other's truly believe Hillary would be bad for the country.

And I know a few that don't support Obama but still hate Hillary. These people are out there acting like bulldogs and are scaring away a lot of undecided voters from her. A 17 year old that we made go caucus with us here in Iowa knew he was a democrat, but had no idea who to pledge for. And I told him that there were basically 3 dems left, Edwards, Obama, and Clinton. His first remark when I said Clinton was, "I'm not voting for Hillary... I'll get made fun of."
lol, hey anyway you can help, right!?!
Cross your fingers for Tuesday. I'll be up all night continents away watching the results. Drop by to say hi as it'll be me, my computer and a whole lot of hope.
I helped out more financially than in an activist fashion. I'm so nervous... but have to play my baritone at a basketball game tomorrow night (grr). But I'll come check my laptop during half time =)
I know, I'm nervous too!
And just so you know just how much you've done your part, I'll tell you an interesting story. Besides the obvious fact that you and your friends going out helped us kick ass in Iowa, you are officially responsible for a speech that is going to be given in a Washington State caucus in about a week or so. When you posted the ten reasons I support Obama list on the official Obama site blog, a lady named Claire Petersky took the list, shortened it and said that she would use it as her speech in her district's caucus. Pretty crazy huh? I wrote the list while here across seas. I posted on my site. You, in Iowa, posted it on the Obama site. And Claire, in Washington, will use it in her caucus!
And strangely enough, she's actually a volunteer in the same city (Bellevue, Washington) as my aunt is, and they've actually volunteered together before! It's a small world!
But seriously, that's a pretty crazy story, right?
Plus, you're comments complimenting my list encouraged me to do paid advertising on google for the list and it got about 400 unique user visits.
Either way, here's to hoping for the best tomorrow!
