I've already watched this video like three times and cried each time. I think the video is really simple, but for me at least it was an incredible reminder as to how this campaign is far less about Barack and far more about us. Watch it again and look at the young kid standing behind Obama who has the most devastatingly depressed look on his face. You see him after 20 seconds in a close up. That's me! Or at least that's exactly how I felt as I watched that speech after having seen the New Hampshire results (at 6am halfway across the world after not having slept all night!). I remember watching the kid that night and thinking damn buddy, I feel your pain, I really do. But it was amazing, as the speech progressed after this incredibly shocking loss when polls had us 13 points ahead, I suddenly remembered what the campaign was precisely about. Looking at that kid reminded me of how many people like myself had become passionate, had gotten involved, made calls, talked to friends, and spent their money. And surely enough, Obama captured that exact sentiment in his speech. The speech made virtually no use of the word "I". It was all about the "we". That's what makes me so excited about this campaign. By the end of the speech the whole crowd (which all had seriously depressed looks on their faces) was totally fired up. Anyways, let's show everyone just what we can do.
Get out the vote for Tuesday.
